MARTIN - Demise at the Home of Her Daughter in East Washington Mrs. Martin, who has been lingering at death's door for the past week died last evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.A. Crawford of East Jefferson street, in her seventy-fourth year. Mrs. Martin was born in Wayne County, Ohio near Wooster. She came to Iowa in 1845. She was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Martin on the seventh of April, 1846. There were twelve children born unto them, six of whom are living, two sons and four daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Crawford, of Washington; Mrs. Maggie Wilson of Jennings, Kansas, Mrs. Susie J. Ingles of Bedford, Iowa; Mr. J. M. Martin, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mr. J. D. Martin of Havre, Iowa. Mrs. Martin united with the Associate Presbyterian church in her early youth and lived an exemplary Christian life. She was a lover of the truth. She took great comfort in the doctrines and promises of the Bible and her acquaintance with the scriptures was shown in the selections she would daily make for reading during her last sickness. Mrs. Martin's name will long be cherished in the neighborhood in which she lived. The sick and needy always recieved her tender care."." Martin Book compiled by Leatha Martin Morten.
