"Know all men by these presents; that I William Wertenberger, being of full age and sound mind, domake this my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all other wills by me at any time heretofore made. First, It is my will and I hereby direct that after my death all my just debts, if any and funeral expenses shall be pair out of any property of which I may died possessed. Second, I desire that from the estate left the lot in which I shall be buried shall be cemeted over to keep down the weeds and grass and that a suitable monument be erected over my grave. Third, It is my will and I hereby direct that at my death my wife ? Mary Wertenberger, shall have all my household goods and one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) in cash to be hers absolutely, should she survive me. Fourth, I desire that after the bequests hereinbefore made, the balance of my property, whether real, personal or mixed whereever the same may be located shall be divided equally between my living children Ephraim Wertenberger, Angeline Miller, Andrew Jackson Wertenberger, Nancey Miller and Clarence Metzger, my grandson, the same to be paid to them personally in cash by the executor hereinafter named. Fifth, I desire that my son Andrew Jackson Wertenberger, be appointed executor of this my last will and testament, without bond, but should he died or for any cause fail or refuse to act, then I desire that my son Ephraim Wertenberger shall act as executor in his stead. In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of the witnesses whose names appear below, who at my request have signed this instrument as witnesses. William Wertenberger We the undersigned have hereto attached our names to this instrument as witnesses in the presence of the testator, William Wertenberger, at his request, who at the same time declared to be his last will and testament freely and voulintarily executed for the purposes therein named and we have signed the same in the presence of each other and we declare that no eresures or interlineations were made in this instrument between the time it was signed by the William Wertenberger and ourselves. 4Obituary, PG. 1 , 16 Sep 2003. ""William WERTENBERGER, well known in this city where he lived for a number of years, died Friday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Miller, west of Sidney. The funeral services were held at the Eel River church Sunday, conducted by Rev. Albert Wright and the burial was in the cemetery near the church. Mr. Wertenberger lived in North Manchester until about four years ago, when he went to Norcatur, Kansas, where he remained until November 6, when he came back to Indiana. He was born in Starke county, Ohio, August 11, 1827, and died near Sidney, December 11, 1908, aged 81 years and four months. He was united in marriage to Mary Flora, in Starke county, Ohio, March 11 1849. For fifty nine years and nine months they journeyed along life's pathway together, and to them were born seven children, four of them living, they being Ephraim Wertenberger, of Laketon, A. J. Wertenberger Norcatur Kansas, Mrs. John E. Miller, of near Sidney and Mrs. Hiram Miller of Cambridge Nebraska. Besides these children leaves his aged wife, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two brothers to mourn his death. Mr. and Mrs. Wertenberger united with the Brethren church in 1873, and lived faithful to the end. - North Manchester (Ind.) Journal"." Norcatur Register.
